How Much Does Snowbird Car Shipping Cost?
A realistic look at what snowbirds should expect to pay for auto transport in both directions of the season.
Snowbird auto transport pricing depends on route distance, vehicle size, transport type, and season. Rates are market-driven, so the same lane can price differently week to week depending on carrier availability. Below is a realistic look at what most snowbirds pay in each direction.
Typical price ranges by corridor
- Virginia to Florida: $750–$1,250
- Maryland / D.C. to Florida: $800–$1,350
- Pennsylvania to Florida: $850–$1,450
- New Jersey to Florida: $900–$1,500
- Ohio / Michigan to Florida: $900–$1,650
- New York to Florida: $950–$1,600
- Massachusetts / Connecticut to Florida: $1,000–$1,700
- Illinois to Arizona: $1,050–$1,750
Ranges reflect typical open-transport pricing for a standard passenger car during snowbird season. Enclosed transport is meaningfully higher.
What raises your rate
- Enclosed transport, especially for luxury or collector vehicles
- Larger vehicles (SUVs, pickups, oversized sedans)
- Non-running vehicles that require specialized loading
- Rural or remote pickup/delivery addresses
- Peak-season timing with short lead times
What lowers your rate
- Booking 3–4 weeks ahead of your requested pickup date
- Flexible pickup and delivery windows
- Metro-to-metro shipments with dense carrier availability
- Standard open transport for a running vehicle
Deposits and payment
Most snowbird auto transport pricing does not require a large upfront deposit. Payment is typically split, with a portion charged when the carrier is dispatched and the balance due at delivery. Ask any provider you consider how their payment terms work.
Getting an accurate quote
Online calculators can produce misleading numbers because they can't reflect real-time carrier supply. A quote reviewed by a specialist for your specific lane and dates is more accurate. Request a free quote and a snowbird specialist will follow up with pricing options for your route.
